COLORADO ATTORNEY GENERAL REACHES AGREEMENT WITH PENGUIN GROUP, INC. TO RESOLVE E-BOOK PRICE-FIXING ALLEGATIONS

DENVER—The Colorado Attorney General’s Office today announced the resolution of a multistate, antitrust litigation against a major U.S. book publisher for price-fixing and collusion in the electronic book (E-book) market. Colorado has reached an agreement with Penguin Group (USA) Inc.

ATTORNEY GENERAL HALTS QUANTUM TITLE’S PONZI SCHEME

DENVER— The Colorado Attorney General’s Office announced today that the statewide Grand Jury has indicted Quantum Title after investigators found approximately $3 million missing from the company’s escrow account. After sending a letters to customers, its insurance company, and the Colorado Division of Insurance advising that it was unable to meet escrow obligations, Quantum Title ceased operations in July 2011.

COLORADO UPDATES CONSUMER RELIEF DATA FROM NATIONAL MORTGAGE SETTLEMENT

DENVER – Joseph A. Smith, Jr., Monitor of the National Mortgage Settlement, has received an update on the consumer relief activities the five banks that are parties to the Settlement reported through March 31, 2013. The banks sent these reports to each state that is party to the Settlement with copies to the Monitor and the Monitoring Committee. This figure includes both completed consumer relief and active first lien trial modifications.
