DENVER – Attorney General John Suthers announced today that Quik Payday, Inc., of Logan, Utah, will pay $2 million in restitution to Colorado consumers for making illegal “payday” loans via the Internet in violation of Colorado law. The Attorney General estimates some 15,000 Colorado consumers will share in the settlement.

DENVER – Attorney General John Suthers announced today the findings of his Mortgage and Foreclosure Fraud Task Force formed in July to address the rise in mortgage and foreclosure fraud throughout Colorado.
“Earlier this year, the FBI identified Colorado as one of the top ten mortgage fraud ‘hot spots’ in the country,” said Suthers. “This is unacceptable and thanks to the work of the Mortgage and Foreclosure Fraud Task Force, we are making efforts to remove Colorado from this list.”

Attorney General Suthers Announces $71,000 Grant For Cancer Program At The Children’s Hospital -- 12/13/2005
DENVER – Attorney General John Suthers announced today that The Children’s Hospital Foundation has been awarded $71,094 – Colorado’s portion of the Taxol Antitrust Litigation residual funds – to support the “Child Life Program,” at The Children’s Hospital Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.
“The Children’s Hospital is a leader in providing healthcare to Colorado’s most vulnerable citizens,” said Suthers. “This grant will help restore hope in the lives of children and their families who are coping with the devastating disease of cancer.”

DENVER - Today Secretary of State Gigi Dennis and Attorney General John Suthers announced the results of Colorados third Annual Report on Charitable Solicitations. Attorney General John Suthers Obtains Guilty Plea In Securities Scam -- 12/07/2005
DENVER – Attorney General John Suthers today announced that former Littleton resident, John Mark Godard, pled guilty to two counts of securities fraud (class 3 felonies) in connection with a scam involving soliciting investors to finance non-existent radio equipment.
“White collar crime affects consumers’ wallets and their confidence,” said Attorney General Suthers. “I’m pleased that this investigation led to a guilty plea in a case that affected victims to the tune of nearly $1.4 million.”

DENVER – Attorney General John Suthers announced today that his office filed a consumer protection lawsuit in Arapahoe County District Court against Morphcorp LLC, a Parker, Colorado company, as well as the company’s president and general manager, Maxwell MacMaster, for alleged deceptive advertising and sales of “Family Yearbooks.”
