NOTES: In recognition of National Consumer Protection Week, Attorney General John Suthers will announce the 2005 Top Ten Consumer Complaints made to the Attorney General’s Office. Representatives from Colorado’s BBBs will participate.


INFO ON MORTGAGE/ FORECLOSURE FRAUD

At approximately 2 PM, following the press conference Attorney General Suthers will testify in support of SB 71, sponsored by Rep. Tom Massey (R-Poncha Springs) and Sen. Jennifer Veiga (D-Denver), which will provide measures to protect consumers from mortgage and foreclosure fraud. The hearing will be held in Senate Committee Room 354.

In July 2005, Attorney General Suthers convened a Mortgage and Foreclosure Task Force and charged the group with, among other things, developing legislative proposals. Further information on the efforts of this Task Force, can be found at: http://www.ago.state.co.us/press_detail.cfm?pressID=742
