Attorney General Suthers Announces Indictments In Decade-Old Bingo Scheme

DENVER – Attorney General John Suthers announced today the indictments of ten defendants in a long-standing and prolific bingo scheme designed to defraud non-profits out of millions in bingo and pull-tab proceeds. The Statewide Grand Jury issued their indictment on June 2, 2006. Warrants for the ten defendants were issued yesterday.

Gov. Owens Signs Legislation To Toughen Laws Against Internet Predators

DENVER – Attorney General Suthers today joined Gov. Owens at a Denver Boys & Girls Club as he signed HB-1011, which gives law enforcement additional tools to crack down on Internet predators. The legislation was the cornerstone of the Attorney General’s Safe Surfing Initiative, launched last year on May 25, 2005, in recognition of National Missing Children’s Day.

Attorney General Suthers Praises Dismissal Of Parolee Voting Suit

DENVER – Attorney General Suthers today praised the decision of the Denver District Court confirming that C.R.S. 1-2-103(4) does not violate the Colorado Constitution or the Equal Protection Clause by making parolees ineligible to vote. Denver District Court dismissed the case Friday, May 26 and granted the Secretary’s Motion to Dismiss.

Attorney General Announces Indictments In String Of Burglaries Along I-25 Corridor

DENVER – Attorney General John Suthers today announced indictments of eleven individuals of a burglary ring operating along the I-25 corridor. The Statewide Grand Jury handed down the indictments on Monday, May 22. The matter was heard by the Statewide Grand Jury because of its multi-jurisdictional nature.

Denver Man Sentenced To 8 Years In Investment Scam

DENVER – Attorney General John Suthers and Securities Commissioner Fred Joseph announced today that Denver resident Rico Vecchiarelli (DOB 2/21/76) was sentenced in Denver District Court for defrauding five investors out of $147,000.

Denver Metro Auto Theft Team Busts Motor Vehicle Theft Ring

DENVER – Attorney General John Suthers and the Denver Metro Auto Theft Team (DMATT) announced indictments and subsequent arrests of five individuals of a motor vehicle theft ring based in Commerce City and operating across the greater Denver metropolitan area. The State Grand Jury handed down the indictment last Friday, May 12 and the arrests were completed late yesterday.
