DENVER – Colorado Attorney General John Suthers today issued the following statement regarding a decision by the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in the case of Wilder v. Turner (No. 06-1092):
“We’re pleased with the appellate court ruling,” said Attorney General Suthers. “It was the state’s position that errors by the trial court led to the unfavorable verdict, and the 10th Circuit Court has agreed.”
DENVER – Colorado Attorney General John W. Suthers, in conjunction with Colorado Department of Labor and Employment executive director Donald J. Mares, today announced the indictment of David F. Holt (DOB 4/12/47), of Lakewood, on suspicion of workers’ compensation and disability fraud.
DENVER – Attorney General John Suthers today announced the settlement of a civil law enforcement action against the makers of the oral contraceptive Ovcon. The lawsuit, initiated by Colorado and joined by thirty-three other states and the District of Columbia, charged Warner Chilcott and Barr Pharmaceuticals with antitrust violations that prevented generic versions of Ovcon, a prescription oral contraceptive, from reaching the marketplace. As part of the settlement, Warner Chilcott will pay $5.5 million to Colorado and other litigating states.

DENVER – Colorado Attorney General John W. Suthers today issued the following statement regarding Governor Bill Ritter’s decision to sign House Bill 1326 into law:
“Now that House Bill 1326 has become law, Colorado has moved to the vanguard of states leading the charge to protect our kids on the Internet,” commented Attorney General Suthers. “Requiring sex offenders to register their online identities gives parents, kids, and law enforcement a new and effective weapon to repel cyber pedophiles.”
DENVER – Colorado Attorney General John W. Suthers today announced six arrests in connection with an ID theft ring responsible for tens of thousands of dollars in losses. An indictment in the case was handed down by the Statewide Grand Jury, with significant involvement from the Boulder County Sherriff’s Office and Boulder District Attorney.
DENVER – Colorado Attorney General John W. Suthers today announced that William Humphries (DOB 11/20/60), of Denver, has been sentenced to five years in state prison for his role in stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from the Colorado Medicaid system between 2001 and 2005. Humphries pled guilty on March 28 to two counts of Theft Over $15,000, both class 3 felonies. Restitution for Humphries was set at more than $728,000. He will serve 5 years of parole after completing his prison sentence.
DENVER – Five legislative priorities proposed by Colorado Attorney General John W. Suthers passed easily through both chambers of the statehouse during the 2007 legislative session. Two of the five agenda items have already been signed by Governor Bill Ritter, while the other three currently await his signature. All told, Suthers’ legislative priorities passed with 454 “yes” votes on third reading against only 33 “no” votes.
