Suthers Comments On Hettrick Investigation

DENVER – Following his appointment by Governor Bill Ritter as a special prosecutor in the Peggy Hettrick murder investigation, Colorado Attorney General John Suthers today issued the following statement:

“Pursuant to Governor Ritter’s executive order, I have accepted an appointment as special prosecutor to investigate the murder of Peggy Hettrick. Given the circumstances of the crime, I believe it is appropriate to undertake a thorough review of all available evidence to determine if there is a prosecutable case. My office will utilize our investigative resources and call upon other agencies for assistance, including the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. There is no timetable for the completion of the investigation, and pursuant to the Colorado Rules of Professional Conduct, we will not comment on the progress of the investigation until its conclusion.”
