DENVER – Colorado Attorney General John Suthers today announced that the State of Colorado will receive more than $1.2 million as part of a nationwide settlement with pharmaceutical manufacturer Cephalon, Inc. The monies will be used to reimburse the State Medicaid system.

Judge Grants Receiver, Injunction For Colorado Humane Society -- 12/16/2008
DENVER -- Colorado Attorney General John Suthers today announced that his office has secured a court order that will give a receiver solitary control of the Colorado Humane Society and its assets, including all its sheltered animals. The motion, which was filed in Arapahoe County Court this morning, immediately removes Mary C. Warren, Robert Warren, and Stephenie L. Gardner from their management roles with CHS, and bars them from any control of its assets.
Attorney General Announces $12 Million Settlement With Mattel Over Lead Paint In Toys -- 12/15/2008
DENVER -- Colorado Attorney General John Suthers today announced a 42 state, $12 million settlement with Mattel, Inc. and its subsidiary, Fisher-Price, Inc., resolving a 16-month investigation into a voluntary recall of the company’s toys for excessive lead paint during 2007. The agreement, filed today in Denver District Court, requires Mattel to pay $12 million to the States by January 30, 2009, $228,800 of which will be paid to the State of Colorado.

DENVER -- Colorado Attorney General John Suthers today announced that his office has filed a civil lawsuit against Colorado Humane Society & S.P.C.A., Inc., and its principals for alleged violations of Colorado law. As part of the lawsuit, Attorney General Suthers has requested the appointment of a custodian to take over management of the charity in an effort to preserve the long-term viability of the organization.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Colorado Attorney General John Suthers today argued before the United States Supreme Court on behalf of the State of Colorado in the case Kansas v. Colorado. The argument marked the first time a sitting Attorney General from Colorado has argued in front of the nation’s highest court since Gale Norton defended Colorado’s ballot initiative process in Buckley v. American Constitutional Law Foundation in October of 1998.
Career Criminal Convicted In Four-Corners Crime Ring -- 11/20/2008
DENVER – Colorado Attorney General John Suthers today announced that Jaydee Russell, (DOB 8/14/67) of Bloomfield, New Mexico, has been convicted on four felony counts for his role in a crime ring which stole automobiles and heavy equipment in the Four Corners area during 2004 and 2005. More than twenty motor vehicles, valued at in excess of $300,000, were taken from both Colorado and New Mexico, and then traded for methamphetamine imported from Mexico.
