Attorney General Suthers Announces $5.9 Million Settlement In Antitrust Lawsuit Against Barr Pharmaceuticals

DENVER – Attorney General John Suthers today announced the settlement of a civil law enforcement action against drug company Barr Pharmaceuticals. Colorado will receive a civil penalty of $100,000 – the maximum allowed by state law – as well as $200,000 in attorneys’ fees for its position as the lead state in the lawsuit.

DENVER – Colorado Attorney General John Suthers today issued the following statement after a 4-1 vote by the Senate committee on State, Veterans, and Military Affairs to kill SB-146, which would have banned most robocalls in Colorado:

DENVER - Attorney General John Suthers will testify before the Colorado Senate committee on State, Veterans, and Military Affairs regarding Senate Bill 146, sponsored by Senator Paula Sandoval (D-Denver) and Representative Larry Liston (R-Colorado Springs). SB-146 would ban most robocalls in the state of Colorado, with exceptions for schools and public safety organizations.

Attorney General Suthers Establishes Hettrick Tip Hotline

DENVER – Colorado Attorney General John W. Suthers today announced the creation of a hotline to receive tips regarding the 1987 murder of Peggy Hettrick. Anyone with information that could help authorities identify responsible parties is encouraged to call. Callers have the option to remain anonymous.

Attorney General Suthers To Testify Before Congress On Robocalls

DENVER – Colorado Attorney General John Suthers will be in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday to testify before the United States Senate Committee on Rules and Administration, chaired by Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-California). Suthers will deliver testimony to the committee as it holds a hearing on the subject of Protecting Voters at Home and at the Polls: Limiting Abusive Robocalls and Vote Caging Practices. His testimony will discuss developments since the enactment of “no-call” laws and assert that, because of political robocalls, no-call laws have lost much of their beneficial effect.

Attorney General Suthers Files Consumer Protection Suit Against Legal Aid Company

DENVER – Colorado Attorney General John W. Suthers today announced that his office filed a consumer fraud lawsuit on January 29, 2008, against Legal Aid National Services, Inc., commonly known as The LANS Corp. (http://www.thelanscorp.org/). Also named in the lawsuit are LANS founder and president Kendrick E. White (DOB 12/05/1957), White’s wife Jasmine Ewing (DOB 10/30/1972), and White’s half-brother Derrich E. Brown (DOB 06/08/1943), both of whom assisted with the company.

DENVER – Colorado Attorney General John W. Suthers today announced that the State of Colorado will receive more than $1.7 million as part of two separate global settlements with Merck & Co., Inc., totaling $649 million.

DENVER –Attorney General John W. Suthers is spearheading a measure to ban most robocalls in the state of Colorado. Introduced in the State Senate today, Senate Bill 146 will be sponsored by Senator Paula Sandoval (D-Denver) and Representative Larry Liston (R-Colorado Springs).

Attorney General Suthers Announces Indictment In Price-Swapping Scheme

DENVER) – Colorado Attorney General John W. Suthers today announced that Robert P. Herrle II (DOB 02/28/1968) of Englewood has been indicted by a statewide grand jury for his role in a price-tag swapping scheme involving high-end electronics.

Herrle was indicted on 42 counts, including theft, forgery, and computer crimes. The indictment alleges that between May 1, 2006, and April 30, 2007, Herrle allegedly defrauded local Sam’s Club and Best Buy stores out of more than $15,000 in Bose electronics.
