ATTORNEY GENERAL ANNOUNCES 71-COUNT INDICTMENT AGAINST MEDICAL MARIJUANA DISPENSARIES AND OWNERS -- 06/19/2013

DENVER –The statewide grand jury has indicted Conley Hoskins (DOB 11-26-78), Dallan Dirkmaat (DOB 02/21/76), Brenden Joyce (DOB 09/21/79), and nine other individuals for defrauding investors and running an illegal medical marijuana grow operation. The twelve indicted individuals face 71 criminal counts related to the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act (COCCA) and felony charges for tax evasion, securities fraud and money laundering.

ATTORNEY GENERAL WARNS CONSUMERS THAT FIRES BRING OUT THE SCAM ARTISTS -- 06/18/2013

DENVER – The wildfires in Colorado also threaten to spark a host of fraudulent activities by scam artists. Colorado Attorney General John W. Suthers is warning consumers not to be exploited by these scams and to report any suspicious activity.

ATTORNEY GENERAL SUTHERS REACTS TO U.S. SUPREME COURT RULING ON TARRANT REGIONAL WATER -- 06/13/2013

DENVER—The United States Supreme Court in a unanimous decision today upheld the language of an interstate compact between Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana governing the states’ rights to water from an interstate river. The Court ruled that because it did not have explicit authority to do so under the compact, a Texas water district could not cross state lines to appropriate water from within Oklahoma’s borders.

ATTORNEY GENERAL STATEMENT ON RELEASE OF MOUNTAIN STATES EMPLOYERS COUNCIL REPORT -- 06/10/2013

DENVER—On Friday, June 7, 2013, Attorney General John Suthers informed the Colorado District Attorneys Council, the Colorado Public Defender, and the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar Council via letter of the report by Mountain States Employers Council.

APPROXIMATELY 22,965 CHECKS AVERAGING $1,480 COMING TO COLORADO BORROWERS THROUGH NATIONAL MORTGAGE SETTLEMENT -- 06/04/2013

DENVER- Colorado borrowers who submitted a valid foreclosure payment claim through the National Mortgage Settlement will receive a check this month for an average of $1,480. To date, the total cash payments for mortgage servicing abuse are Colorado is $32,882,672. This relief is in addition to $405.3 million already provided to more than 7,000 borrowers for principal reductions, mortgage modifications and other forms of relief.

TWO FLORIDA MEN INDICTED ON CHARGES RELATED TO BUSINESS ID THEFT -- 05/31/2013

DENVER –The statewide grand jury has indicted John Parks (DOB: 10-29-76 ) and Daryl Honowitz (DOB: 09-05-60 ) on 28 criminal counts related to the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act (COCCA) and felony charges for computer crime, theft, defrauding a secured creditor, identity theft and forgery.

ATTORNEY GENERAL ANNOUNCES GUILTY VERDICTS AGAINST BURGLARS WHO TARGETED ELDERLY -- 05/29/2013

DENVER—The Colorado Attorney General’s Office today announced that Erik Burt (D.O.B. 01/24/84) and Javon Ristick (D.O.B. 05/31/85) pled guilty to burglarizing the homes of Colorado’s senior citizens and were both sentenced to serve eight-years each with the Department of Corrections.

ATTORNEY GENERAL SUTHERS STATEMENT ON COLORADO SUPREME COURT DECISION IN LOBATO V. COLORADO -- 05/28/2013

DENVER—The Colorado Supreme Court today ruled in favor of the state in Lobato v. State of Colorado. The Attorney General’s Office has steadfastly defended the state’s thorough and uniform system of public education for almost seven years successfully arguing that Colorado’s system of public school financing does not violate the state’s constitution.

ATTORNEY GENERAL SUTHERS STATEMENT ON NATHAN DUNLAP CLEMENCY -- 05/22/2013

DENVER—Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper today issued a reprieve to Nathan Dunlap for the duration of the Hickenlooper administration. Dunlap was sentenced to die by lethal injection for the 1993 “Chuck E Cheese” murders of Margaret Kohlberg, Sylvia Crowell, Colleen O’Connor and Ben Grant.
