ATTORNEY GENERAL SUTHERS STATEMENT ON DEMISE OF HB13-1114

DENVER—On Monday April, 22, 2013 the Colorado Senate Judiciary Committee voted 4-1 to reject the driving while under the influence of marijuana bill. HB13-1114 would have created a permissible inference that drivers with more than five nanograms of TCH per milliliter of blood were impaired. 

WILLIAM PAUL BUCKLEY SENTENCED FOR AUTO THEFT

DENVER - Colorado Attorney General John Suthers announced today that an Arapahoe County Judge sentenced William Paul Buckley (DOB: 05/10/84) to ten years of economic crime probation and 90 days in the county jail for a series of car thefts that occurred between September, 2010 and January, 2011.

ATTORNEY GENERAL ANNOUNCES OTHELLO BLAND SENTENCED TO 14 -YEAR PRISON SENTENCE FOR ORGANIZED CRIME RELATED AUTO THEFT

DENVER - Colorado Attorney General John Suthers announced today that Othello Bland (DOB: 06/19/1978) was sentenced to 14-years in the Colorado Department of Corrections by an Arapahoe County judge. Bland pled guilty in January to charges under the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act (COCCA) after reaching an agreement with prosecutors.

ATTORNEY GENERAL ANNOUNCES ARREST OF MIKE TEE FOR ORCHESTRATING INSURANCE-THEFT RING

DENVER — Colorado Attorney General John Suthers announced today that the statewide Grand Jury indicted Mike Tee (D.O.B. 05/16/73) and he is now in police custody. Tee is alleged to have led a criminal enterprise that staged automobile accidents to file insurance claims and obtain financial payouts. He faces 31 felony counts that range from theft and identity theft, to violating bond and attempting to influence a public servant. 

BIPARTISAN COALITION OF STATE ATTORNEYS GENERAL URGES CONGRESS TO ACT ON IMMIGRATION REFORM

DENVER—Colorado Attorney General John Suthers announced today that a bipartisan group of 35 state and territorial attorneys general wrote to U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and congressional leaders to convey their support for federal immigration reform that improves our immigration system, keeps our communities safe and protects our borders.

ALAN JOHNSON SENTENCED TO 36-YEARS FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING

 

DENVER—Colorado Attorney General John Suthers today announced that Alan Johnson of Loveland, Colorado, was sentenced to serve a thirty-six year sentence in the Colorado Department of Corrections (DOC) after being found guilty of leading a drug-trafficking criminal enterprise that distributed cocaine and methamphetamine throughout Northern Colorado and into Montana.

ATTORNEY GENERAL ANNOUNCES SETTLEMENT AGAINST EZPAWN COLORADO, INC., AND EZMONEY COLORADO, INC.

 

DENVER-Attorney General John Suthers today announced a settlement was reached with EZPawn Colorado, Inc., and EZMoney Colorado, Inc., over allegations the companies caused consumers to pay more in interest on their payday loans than was required. Specifically, EZPawn and EZMoney were not refunding a pro rata portion of the interest rate when consumers prepaid their loans in full prior to maturity. 

ATTORNEY GENERAL SUTHERS TO MEET WITH MEXICO’S NEW ATTORNEY GENERAL

DENVER —Colorado Attorney General John Suthers will travel to Mexico City to meet with Mexican Attorney General Jesús Murillo Karam on Tuesday, March 19th. Suthers and western state Attorneys General representing California, Idaho, Nevada and New Mexico will meet with Murillo Karam to discuss drug trafficking, human trafficking and judicial reform in Mexico.

CLINTON DEE FRALEY ARRESTED FOR SECURTIES FRAUD AND THEFT

DENVER — The Colorado Attorney General’s Office announced today that it has charged Clinton Dee Fraley (D.O.B. 01/05/77) of Englewood with 46 felonies for allegedly stealing more than $532,000 from four Colorado mutual-fund investors. Charges were brought after an extensive and thorough investigation by the Colorado Division of Securities which revealed the alleged criminal conduct on the part of Fraley.
