A simple approach to implementing mediation practices in everyday law enforcement encounters.

The MiM course is geared toward patrol operations however, it is appropriate for any sworn law enforcement personnel who work closely with community members, such as school resource officers, crime prevention officers, community services officers, and police officers involved in community oriented policing/problem solving projects.

The class will provide students with:
-An understanding of the mediation process and the ability to apply it in informal
and formal law enforcement settings
-Interpersonal communication and mediation skills
-Ability to better understand root causes of conflict
-Ability to approprately apply active listening skills and strategies
-Problem solving strategies and abilities

Practice and confidence to work with diverse communities engaged in conflict
